Flatiron, New York City. Flatiron gets its name from one of the World's most famous buildings, the Flatiron Building. Flatiron is actually a part of the Gramercy Park neighborhood, it gets its separation onto itself mainly because of the famous building it has as one of its residents. Some New Yorkers call this area Union Square, in any case, Union Square or Flatiron is where the fun begins. Union Square host some of the best and trendiest shops, restaurants, nightspots, and hotels in New York City. Residents of Union Square are young and vibrant.

Stuyvesant Town, Southeast of Gramercy Park, is another quiet residential area like Gramercy Park, but without the luxuries, prestige or the high prices. As with most of Manhattan Flatiron, Union Square, and Stuyvesant Town are just small neighborhoods inside larger ones, the larger ones mostly are called Districts.

Flatiron is a great neighborhood that retains much of the early 20th Century image of New York that you know from movies. Unfortunatetly, it's not really set up as a residential neighborhood - you have to walk east, west or north to get food, household items, videos, etc. Nevertheless, its central location and unique character make it a safe choice for anyone wishing to live "Manhattan style".
