Guttenberg, New Jersey.  The township o Guttenberg was incorporated March 9, 1859. The town is situated on a narrow strip of land, 0.2 square miles in area, originally owned by the 17th century Dutch Settlers Tielman Van Vieck and Dirck Claesen. Guttenberg is bounded on the north and west by the township of North Bergen, and the south by the town of West New York and on the east by the Hudson River. The Galaxy Apartments, three high-rise structures on the Hudson waterfront, is home to approximately 20 percent of the town's total population. Guttenberg is the most densely populated town in the state.
